鶹Ƶ is continuing its long-standing commitment to student success with a slate of summer courses designed to help students move through sequences more efficiently and with greater confidence.
Registration is now underway for summer quarter, with classes beginning June 21. Whether students are just beginning or nearing graduation YVC offers options to support their academic progress.
Below is a selection of courses designed to help students advance more quickly and build momentum toward completing degree requirements.
General Chemistry with Lab II | CHEM& 162
The second course in a three-course sequence in general chemistry for science and
engineering majors. Topics include enthalpy, solids, gases, intermolecular forces,
chemical kinetics and chemical equilibrium. Lab activities reinforce course concepts
and cover laboratory safety, quantitative and qualitative analysis.
General Chemistry with Lab III | CHEM& 163
The third course in a three-course sequence in general chemistry for science and engineering
majors. Topics include acid-base equilibria, solubility, complex ion formation, enthalpy,
entropy, Gibbs free energy, electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry and coordination chemistry.
Lab activities reinforce course concepts including laboratory safety, quantitative
and qualitative analysis.
Chican@/x Art & Culture | CHST 120
Explores the history and cultural development of Chican@/x communities. Students engage
in the study of literary, cultural and artistic contributions and achievements of
Chican@/x people.
Intercultural Communication | CMST 280
Examines how communication functions across cultures and in diverse societies. Covers
foundational theories of intercultural communication and draws from related fields
such as cultural and gender studies. Discussions focus on cultural change in the United
States and the global influence of mass and popular culture.
Research Writing | ENGL 203
Focuses on the fundamentals of academic research and writing. Students will learn
essential research methods and develop strategies for locating, evaluating and organizing
information from a variety of sources.
International Relations | POLS& 203
An introduction to global politics that examines major theories, key international
actors and the forces that drive conflict and cooperation. This course also explores
changes in global political structures and institutions.

No matter where you’re going, YVC is the place to start! YVC’s open-door policy enables all community members to enroll without regard for their past educational record.
Are you a first-time college student or transferring from another school and planning to earn a degree or certificate? New, transfer and returning degree-seeking students, visit our admissions website to apply and get started.
Are you interested in enrolling in a class or two for personal enrichment, professional development or just plain fun? Non-degree seeking students, those not intending to obtain a degree or certificate, are welcome to enroll in courses that total 11 credits or less per quarter. Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid. Registration for summer quarter begins May 13 for part-time, non-degree/certificate-seeking students.
Senior citizens, 60 years of age or older, who are Washington state residents can take advantage of the Gold Card Program. This program allows seniors to attend state supported classes at a reduced cost on a space-available basis. Gold Card participants may enroll on the third day of the quarter or when the class has met at least once, whichever is later.
