Students in YVC's Surgical Technology program prepare for an exciting career as an integral member of the surgical team. Performing in the sterile role or non-sterile “assistant circulating” role, surgical technologists may be eligible for employment in hospital operating rooms, ambulatory care areas, delivery rooms, central sterile processing departments and more. Graduates of YVC’s program sit for the National Certified Surgical Technologist Examination.
Combining online instruction, laboratory simulations and supervised clinical practice, YVC's degree prepares students for a career as a surgical technologist. Instruction includes core courses essential to health care professionals as well as specialty courses in surgical technology.
Simulation of surgical suites in YVC’s state-of-the-art Allied Health Center provide students with hands-on development of essential skills. Clinical practice in hospital operating rooms, surgery center operating rooms, surgical processing services, and labor and delivery centers provides additional real-life experience to prepare students for entry-level positions as surgical technologists.

Students enrolled in YVC’s Surgical Technology program are eligible for extra financial assistance through the college’s Opportunity Grant program. The program helps eligible low-income students with the cost of tuition and mandatory fees as well as reimbursement for textbooks and supplies.
