1964 Football Team
Coached by Hall of Fame inductee in his final season, the 1964 team compiled a 7-1 record and won the program’s lone conference title with an offense that averaged 234 yards rushing and a defense that set an Northwest Athletic Conference record with 16 interceptions. Marquette High School graduate Dave Wuitschick led the team in rushing, receiving and scoring and Steve Keeler from Davis High School earned two of Faller’s top awards. Those two along with Butch Grant, Tom Healy and Wilbur Langston were selected for first-team all-conference honors.
Nikki Richardson (Volleyball)
Richardson, from West Valley High School, starred at YVC during the 1990 and 1991 seasons. YVC’s first All-American volleyball player to earn first-team honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, she amassed 1,009 career kills. Her 435 kills as a freshman led YVC to a third-place NWAC trophy in 1990 and she built on that performance with 574 kills as a sophomore when YVC took home fourth-place hardware from the conference tournament.
Alyson Rollins (Women’s Basketball & Softball)
As the most prolific scorer over the 50-year history of the YVC women’s basketball program, the Selah High School alumnus piled up 1,153 points in two seasons and helped her teams win 52 games, including the 1990-91 NWAC championship her freshman year. During her sophomore season, Rollins was the East Region MVP while averaging 20.4 points and setting a single-game school record of 42 points that stood for 25 years. She also played softball her freshman year and earned second-team regional honors.
Ryan Rostvold (Men’s Basketball)
Rostvold joined the Yaks from West Valley High School and averaged over 20 points per game during his two seasons, amassing 1,067 career points and helping YVC capture the NWAC championship as a freshman in 2003. Rostvold collected three conference honors as a freshman – East Division first team, NWAC All-Academic and All-Tournament. As a sophomore he repeated his East honors and was MVP of the NWAC’s all-star game.
