麻豆视频鈥檚 Diversity Series in partnership with will host a February 25 Black History Luncheon on YVC鈥檚 Yakima Campus in Kaminski Conference Center, 1704 W. Nob Hill Blvd., Building #38.

The event features speakers from each organization as well as community leaders. It will also include resource tables and artifacts on display celebrating important moments in Black history. The event will culminate with a keynote by . Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and programming begins at 12 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The True Black History Museum

This traveling Black history exhibit showcases artifacts dating from the late 1700s to the 21st century. The museum was established to preserve the history of African American people and to educate others about the many contributions African Americans have made to society. Its mission is to instill self-esteem and pride and to increase knowledge, awareness, cultural sensitivity and understanding of the historic experiences of African Americans.

The collection takes visitors on a journey through the African American experience and is comprised of more than 1,000 authentic artifacts, including original documents from historic figures such as Booker T. Washington, Mary McLeod Bethune, George Washington Carver, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass, Angela Davis, President Barack Obama and many others.

Keynote Speaker Fred Safford

Fred Saffold is a widely sought-after presenter who speaks regularly on college campuses nationwide on issues of Black history and racial justice. A retired law enforcement professional and the current director of the acclaimed traveling True Black History Museum, Saffold draws on his unique background and years of activism and racial justice advocacy to help audiences understand the depth of racial equity work.

In exploring solutions for racial equity and inclusion, Saffold鈥檚 engaging presentation style motivates participants and encourages transformation. His work makes clear the impact that racism has on everyone and challenges participants to take action to help build a more inclusive and equitable America.
