Assessment at Â鶹ÊÓƵ
Â鶹ÊÓƵ (YVC) engages in an ongoing, systematic process to assess institutional effectiveness, encompassing student learning and support services. This process includes continuous evaluation and planning to guide decision-making, allocate resources, and enhance student learning and achievement.
Learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom. In the classroom, faculty play a central role in developing curricula, assessing student learning, and improving instructional programs. Beyond the classroom, students benefit from co-curricular opportunities—programs and services that complement academic learning and support student success. These include a wide range of student services designed to foster engagement, personal development, and achievement.
While YVC conducts multiple types of assessment, this page focuses specifically on instructional program assessment and co-curricular assessment.
Instructional Program Assessment
(ILOs) are used to assess students’ learning in three areas. These areas are Communication, Analytical Reasoning, and Human Relations. The institution evaluates ILOs across all associate- and bachelor-level programs and within the General Education curriculum.
- is used to check the quality of the degrees YVC offers.
- (PLOs) are published in the catalog. They are used to check students’ learning within a program.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are listed on the course syllabus. Faculty use various assessment tools to check student learning.
