About Pedro

Pedro serves as VP of Student Services and Enrollment Management at YVC. A proud first-generation college graduate, former TRIO and College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) student, LGBTQ+ community member, and child of farmworkers raised in the Yakima Valley, Pedro is passionate about expanding educational opportunity and helping students achieve their academic, career, and personal goals.

What he enjoys most about working at YVC is the opportunity to serve the communities that helped shape his own educational journey. He believes community colleges have the power to transform lives, strengthen families, and create thriving communities. Every day, he is inspired by the resilience, determination, and diverse experiences that students bring to campus. His approach to student services centers on removing barriers, creating opportunities, and helping students reach their full potential.
He encourages students to take advantage of the many programs, services, and opportunities available at YVC. He believes success in college is about more than enrolling in classes; it is about building connections, finding support, exploring career pathways, and becoming part of a community where students feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Professionally, his interests include student persistence, completion, strategic enrollment management, Guided Pathways, and strengthening equitable, student-centered systems that improve student outcomes. He will begin doctoral studies in Educational Leadership in Fall 2026 and is particularly interested in research focused on improving success for first-generation, low-income, and historically underserved students. Outside of work, Pedro enjoys hiking, spending time with his dog, building LEGO sets, playing video games, and being with family and friends. He is committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and student centered environment where every student can thrive.
