About Oscar
I am deeply committed to serving my community and supporting students along their educational journey. As a first-generation college student, I navigated many challenges and now strive to give back by helping others access the same opportunities that shaped my path.
Before joining Â鶹ÊÓƵ, I gained valuable experience at both public and private universities, broadening my understanding of diverse student populations and institutional practices. Throughout my career, I have seen that financial aid remains one of the most significant barriers to student success. Over 22 years in financial aid—including 12 years as a Director—I focused on expanding access, improving outreach, and helping students and families better understand the process.
This work strengthened my understanding of the full student journey and the importance of integrated support services. In my current role as Interim Assistant Dean for the YVC Grandview Campus, I draw on this experience to enhance student access, persistence, and completion while advocating for equitable, student-centered practices.
Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, gardening, and hiking with my wife and our two sons, which keeps me grounded and connected to the community I serve.
