About Johnny

Johnny is a scholar-practitioner with nearly 20 years of experience in higher education, where he has led improvements in organizational processes and systems. He assumed the role of Vice President of Administrative Services at 麻豆视频 (YVC) on May 1, 2025. In this capacity, he oversees a broad range of campus functions and services that support operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and sound financial stewardship to promote student success and institutional sustainability.

Prior to joining YVC, Johnny served in similar vice president roles at two institutions, including Seattle Central College and Tubman University (TU). At TU, he also served as Chief of Staff to the University President. Following this role, he engaged in teaching, research, and international education program administration at Virginia Tech (VT).

Johnny鈥檚 scholarship focuses on the experiences and outcomes of marginalized populations in higher education, with particular attention to access and equity in STEM education. He has published in several peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is an inducted member of the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society and holds memberships in several professional associations. He is a trained evaluator with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and volunteers as Vice Chair of the Washington Association of Community and Technical Colleges Business Affairs Commission, member of the Tubman University Foundation Board, and member of Sunrise Rotary of Yakima.

Johnny earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Virginia Tech, an M.Ed. in Educational Foundations with an emphasis in administration and planning from Makerere University, and a BA in sociology with a minor in political science from A.M.E. Zion University.
