About Cristy
As a first-generation, low-income student, I faced many challenges along the way. I know what it’s like to juggle school, work, and family, and that’s why I love supporting students. My goal is to walk alongside them, celebrate their successes, and help them overcome obstacles both in and out of the classroom.
There are many reasons I love working at YVC. I enjoy working in an academic environment with a diverse group of students who are eager to learn. I believe every student can do well when their needs are met. I try to build rapport and trust daily so they feel comfortable sharing their challenges with me and we can find ways to navigate them together (or I can connect them to someone on campus who can support them).
I work on a team where we all share similar goals and work on those goals as a team. I started my academic journey at YVC and hopefully will end my career by retiring from YVC. My interests, outside of YVC, involve travel. I enjoy walking the streets and looking at the architecture of new cities.
