(YVV), 鶹Ƶ’s teaching winery, received several honors at the . YVC’s 2022 Solicitude Lemberger and 2023 Graduate’s Last Hyrah Syrah received double gold awards. The 2025 46th Parallel Marsanne, 2025 Benefactor Viognier, 2025 Hall Pass Riesling, 2022 Primitivo and 2025 Artificial Intelligence Counoise all earned gold. Lastly, the 2022 Super Senior Cabernet Sauvignon and 2025 Curious Learner Sauvignon Blanc earned silver.

These latest honors bring YVC’s Vineyard & Winery Program total to 275 wine awards, including 19 Platinum recognitions, the most of any educational institution in the Pacific Northwest — a testament to the program’s quality and industry relevance.  

“This reflects the dedication and skill of our students, who are learning by doing in a fully operational commercial winery environment,” said Trent Ball, chair of YVC’s Agriculture Department and Vineyard and Winery Technology program.

All award-winning wines submitted by Yakima Valley Vintners were produced and bottled by students enrolled in . Students gain immersive, real-world experience managing every step of the winemaking process, from vineyard management and harvest to fermentation, blending, and bottling.  The wines are marketed through the program at YVC’s Grandview Campus, which houses a winery facility and tasting room, as well as its tasting room on the Yakima Campus.

YVC student wines were judged blind alongside commercial wineries, demonstrating their ability to compete at the highest level of the wine industry. is Washington State's most prestigious wine awards program. In April, Washington's most prominent wine professionals gather to taste and evaluate white, red, sweet, sparkling and rosé wines produced from Washington grapes. This esteemed group includes respected wine directors, buyers, distributors, educators and Seattle’s top sommeliers. The top wines are recognized with double gold, gold, silver and bronze grand awards of excellence.

YVC’s Vineyard and Winery Technology program is now enrolling for fall 2026, offering flexible classes designed for working adults and access to scholarship opportunities. The application deadline is Aug. 10, and both new and returning students may be eligible for the , worth up to $2,500 each quarter.
