The Retired And Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

After careful consideration, Â鶹ÊÓƵ has made the difficult decision to discontinue the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Yakima County. The final day of service in the RSVP office will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

For decades, the RSVP program has been a cornerstone of community service in Yakima County. Thanks to dedication, compassion and countless hours of volunteer service, RSVP has made a profound and lasting impact across our region. We are deeply grateful for everything RSVP volunteers, leaders and community partners have done — and continue to do — to strengthen our community.

  • Your volunteer service may continue as usual. The organizations where you serve are supported by, but independent from, RSVP and will continue to operate as usual. We encourage you to remain connected and active in your current roles — your work remains vital and deeply appreciated by your stations and the community.

  • You (or your station coordinator) no longer need to submit volunteer hours to RSVP. With the program winding down, we ask that you stop submitting your hours as of August 20, 2025.

Catholic Charities of Central Washington has generously offered to provide support to any RSVP volunteers who need assistance or are looking for service opportunities.

Their Senior Services programming can be a valuable resource and may contacted directly at:

Catholic Charities of Central Washington
303 E D Street, Suite 5
Yakima, WA 98901

Two of our service stations will be officially relocating to Catholic Charities.

  • Project Warm-Up (PWU) Volunteers may continue to pick up yarn and supplies at the current RSVP office through August 1. Beginning August 21, please go to the Catholic Charities office at the address listed above for yarn and other PWU support. The finished projects you have already donated this year will be distributed by Catholic Charities this winter and monthly Brown Bag events at Pacific Power will continue as usual.

  • ·Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) This program, through the OIC, will also transition to Catholic Charities. The SHIBA helpline phone number will remain the same, and services will continue uninterrupted.

If RSVP is reestablished in the future under a new host organization, we want to ensure that you are notified and given the opportunity to rejoin the program and continue your membership.

To make that possible, please complete our online form below that contains a brief statement authorizing us to share your contact information and/or your historical service hours with a potential new host. Written authorization is required for us to share this information, and we will handle your details with the utmost care and confidentiality.
