About Shardon

I discovered a love for teaching during my undergrad studies, where I would often get myself in trouble staying late at the library helping other students instead of working on my own assignments. I continued to pursue this passion for teaching through grad school, where my research focused on synthetic organic chemistry with an emphasis on catalysis and methodology development. While I loved research and creating never-before-seen molecules, I found myself enjoying the teaching aspect most. I worked in the hops industry for a short time, but I am beyond excited for this opportunity to be back to teaching.

I truly enjoy teaching and mentoring, and I believe one of the most important aspects of college is that students discover how they think and learn as individuals. Do they understand material better through visuals, by writing things down, or by asking lots of questions to process new concepts? Knowing how you learn best鈥攁nd developing those skills鈥攏ot only helps you succeed in your coursework but also empowers you to achieve your goals well beyond college. I love sharing my passion for chemistry, supporting students in their academic journey, and helping them grow as learners.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors, especially hiking with my dog Moose. I鈥檓 still relatively new to the area, so any tips on fun things to do around here are always welcome!
