About Ray
I have served as Director of Athletics at Â鶹ÊÓƵ since 2005, becoming only the fourth person to hold this role in the college’s history. As a YVC alumnus, it’s meaningful to work in a community where student-athletes arrive with big dreams, strong work ethics, and a desire to grow. Supporting them on the field and in the classroom remains the most rewarding part of my career.
During my tenure, I’ve focused on building programs that reflect YVC’s values. Our teams have earned seven championships—including four NWAC titles in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and baseball—and three national titles in women’s wrestling. We’ve also made 40 NWAC Championship Tournament appearances and won numerous East Region crowns. Equally important, we’ve emphasized academic success through study tables and support systems that have helped hundreds of student-athletes earn All-Academic honors or placement on the President’s or Dean’s List.
Facility improvements have also been a priority. Through campus partnerships and community support, we’ve invested more than $5.7 million into upgrades for Dunbar Field, Parker Faller Field, Sherar Gym, and the YVC Soccer Field. I’ve also led branding and digital efforts, creating a unified visual identity and strengthening our online presence through.
My background as a longtime coach—spanning over 30 seasons at the collegiate and high school levels—shapes my philosophy. Those years taught me the value of mentorship, preparation, and consistent standards, principles I carry into administration. Student-athletes in our programs can expect a supportive, competitive environment that helps them reach their full potential.
Beyond YVC, I stay involved regionally through NWAC committees, the Parker Youth and Sports Foundation, and the Yakima Valley Sports Commission. My career also includes time with the NBA’s Miami Heat while completing my Master’s in Sports Administration.
