About Karolynn
I was born and raised in the Yakima Valley. After working in a variety of positions that spanned both the non-profit advocacy and biological research worlds, I was excited to return to Yakima to combine both my passions in science and youth development as a grant program coordinator at Heritage University.
Now at YVC, I enjoy working with students from all backgrounds.
As a lifetime learner, I am currently a graduate student pursuing a doctorate in higher education leadership. My research interests include understanding policies and practices that support the success of students in the STEM fields.
I strive for students in my class to feel welcomed and supported. I understand from personal experience some of the challenges students may face. I hope students leave my class with a greater appreciation of the wonders of chemistry, even if it isn’t their passion. I also hope that students leave feeling challenged, in a good way, to be more critical thinkers and to build their study skill tool kit that they can use in and out of the classroom.
“Focus on your progress but never stop loving, laughing, and learning.”
