About Jerred
I enjoy working with YVC's population of students with diverse backgrounds and interests. I believe that fundamental skills of analytical reasoning (problem solving) and communication are crucial for students entering the sciences or medical fields and I emphasize these skills in all of my classes. I encourage students to apply their knowledge and explore new scientific findings throughout my courses, whether the course is for non-science majors, pre-health majors, or STEM students.
Outside of my teaching, I am passionate about citizen science and conservation. In my free time during the academic year, I am often found bird watching and recording bird songs, providing observations that can be used by scientists and enthusiasts all around the world. During the summer, I continue to record bird sightings and recordings, but I often volunteer with conservation groups to assist with long-term conservation and monitoring efforts from coral reef to snow leopard conservation.
