About Jeremy

My interests in biology are fairly broad, but my head is most often turned by plants. They intrigue me. Not surprisingly, much of my free time and summer is spent gardening or exploring remote mountain areas.

I've been teaching biology for 20 years and learn something new each day, whether that is about teaching, students or the subject of biology. I find great satisfaction helping students reach a better understanding of how the living world works. Each time I teach a class it is with a new element or approach, so I never teach exactly the same class twice. Sometimes this is from insights I gain from students and other times it is based on my own "aha" moments.

Each time I put my organizational and creative skills to the best use possible. I've had some great moments in the classroom as well as some flubs. I suppose if I ever think I've taught a whole quarter perfectly, it will be time to retire.
