About Anna

My first job after high school was at a college very similar to YVC in both demographics and size. I began as a tutor, and before long, I was asked to cover classes for my professors during their time off. It was during this time that I truly discovered my passion for teaching. I realized that I didn’t want to simply step in as a substitute when needed—I wanted to be the one at the front of the classroom, teaching the subjects I am passionate about. I also found how deeply rewarding it is to help students overcome challenges and gain confidence in their abilities. Watching students succeed and move closer to their personal, academic, and career goals is one of the most fulfilling parts of teaching for me.

I went on to earn a degree in Chemistry with a minor in STEM Education from CWU. After graduating, I worked in a variety of schools, and over time I found myself increasingly in demand as a math teacher rather than a chemistry teacher. Through all of these experiences, my goal remained the same: to return to the type of educational environment that first sparked my love for teaching.

Securing a position at YVC is truly a dream come true. I have lived in Yakima since 2019, and my husband has lived here his entire life. Being able to teach and make an impact in a community that I am personally connected to is incredibly meaningful to me, and I am excited to give back to the place that has become home.
