About Amy
I am excited to teach the wonderful students of YVC because, like you, I was once a community college student wandering the halls, trying to figure out what i wanted to get out of education. The path through community college is filled with such adventure and discovery--I feel lucky to have the opportunity to join you on this journey.
In my classroom we work to create an environment where everyone feels welcome to discuss and explore both writing and critical thinking. In a time of convenience and constant distraction, this space is an opportunity to do the hard work of asking meaningful questions and digging into challenging conversations. As Shakespeare said so eloquently in Hamlet, "We know what we are, but know not what we may be." This class is a chance to do some discovery that could help us grow into the next version of ourselves.
Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my two young children. Watching them grow into fantastic little humans is the highlight of my life thus far. I also have two fur babies, slightly deranged but very loved Australian Shepherds named Jem and Scout (yes, I do enjoy reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" on occasion--why do you ask?).
