About Amanda

I love being a part of students’ education and watching them grow in their learning. One of the most rewarding parts of working at YVC is seeing students gain confidence in their abilities and make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them. In my classes, I strive to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to explore biology in meaningful ways. My goal is for them to leave not only with knowledge, but also with the curiosity to keep learning long after the class ends.

I enjoy learning new things—not just in the field of biology, but across many areas of study. I am particularly interested in exploring new topics in biology and finding ways to make complex concepts engaging and accessible for students. I believe curiosity is one of our greatest tools, and I try to model that by continually expanding my own knowledge and being open to new ideas.

When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me with a book in hand (or audiobook playing), hanging out with my family, or adventuring with our dog. These moments help me recharge and keep a healthy balance between work and life.
