Rogers leaves a legacy
Former Head Coach Al Rogers speaks with the 2012 Women’s Volleyball Team during a practice held in late October. As head coach of the volleyball program for 28 years, Rogers had the longest continuous run of any coach in YVC history and was named East Region coach of the year six times and amassed 614 career wins. Under his tenure, YVC’s team made 15 appearances in the NWAC tournament and collected five trophies, including a runner-up finish in 1989 when the team set the still-standing school record of 47 wins in a season. Rogers was honored during this year’s Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony on May 29.
